Like any other Korean drama, Reply 1988 has the “typical” characters but the difference with other dramas is how they use these stereotypes. They didn’t let the characters with preconceived characteristics by the audience do what they are “supposed” to do, the writer wants to change the game of Korean dramas and she perfectly did it in Reply 1988.
The chaebol who doesn’t act like a jerk. He is actually a very nice guy. Did we mention that he is also a genius?
The poor candy who doesn’t act like a candy, and won’t ask the above chaebol to buy her things except food.
She is not good in her studies because heaven forbid an OTP to be evenly matched in brains in a Kdrama.
But wait! She is smarter than the genius? Wanyeol~
Another rich guy very much in love with the candy, but who acts like he doesn’t care. Ya, this guy is a top student too!
That one good guy who tries to do right by everyone, but can’t help being human. Hey, this guy is 2nd in school and also the President of the Student Council !
The happy-go-lucky funny fellow who is not quite so happy. He is also not good at studying because there has to be a normal guy with bad grades. Yet he is wiser than the top student and always gives him good advice? This doesn’t make sense!
The other 3 pages will be coming soon. If we have time, maybe there will be more than 3 pages… we shall see…
